One day planning. One day video shooting. From breakfast till 4 am. Kathrin as the singer and songwriter of the electro pop band “Golden” plays the first lady in “Heartbeat”. All shot on location in Berlin Neukölln with mostly available light and loads of exciting materials. Expressing how sick a heart can feel, I used strong lighting contrasts between the high key bed scenes which appear very light and peaceful and the black parts in which Kathrin is motionless, blind and bounded. We‘re talking about a black, wobbly balloon. Streched, inflated, tortured, inversed. I like to take things out of context and play with simple objects. Like I think we do not need to take things (including ourselves) far too serious. And in fact, it was really exciting to think about the balloon as a temporary and inconsistent form, putting it behind the glass and doing experiments on it.
